Uber just announced a deal with NASA to develop the software to manage their autonomous “flying taxis”. It was announced by the company’s chief product officer, Jeff Holden, during the Web Summit in Lisbon.
By 2020, Uber plans to test four-passenger, 200mph UberAir flying taxi services across Los Angeles in 2020. This service could be only electric and a journey that usually takes 80 minutes by car in rush-hour traffic would be reduced to… four minutes.
A full operational is in the works for the 2028 LA Olympics. The flying taxis will be drones built by five different manufacturers. And will get you wherever you want to go without any annoying driver.
